Before flowering, already in January, it is recommended to perform phytosanitary treatments to reduce the incidence of fungal attacks on inflorescences. The alternation of the fungicides Azoxistrobin and Potassium Phosphite is advised.
Potassium Phosphite has a fungistatic effect moderated by contact. Its ability to protect against fungi is found by stimulating the production of natural defenses by phosphite ion and, consequently, shows a delayed protection against fungus. To facilitate its absorption it is advisable to apply it via foliar together with an amino acid such as Isabion.
Azoxistrobin is a fungicide that is rapidly absorbed but translocates very little. The application of this fungicide should be done in two separate times 7-8 days to increase its effectiveness, being careful not to administer together with amino acids and following the instructions on the commercial product label. Its application will be done by impregnating the emergency zone of the inflorescences.
As an application calendar proposal we can indicate:
Start January: Treatment with Potassium Phosphite + Isabion Start February: Treatment with Azoxistrobin. Repeat 7-8 days later Start March: Treatment with Potassium Phosphite + Isabion End March-beginning April (before hatching of the bracts): Treatment with Azoxistrobin. Repeat 7-8 days later
Application dose: Potassium Phosphite, 2 liters / 1000 liters water; Azoxistrobin, 1 liter / 1000 liters water
