Trachycarpus Fortunei

Trachycarpus fortunei, although native to China, is a palm tree used ornamentally in all temperate areas with a high presence in Mediterranean countries for its good resistance to cold and high temperatures. It is one of the toughest palm trees known.

The trunk is lonely, unbranched, without stems at its base and very thin, about 20-30 cm in diameter and has a hairy appearance that easily differentiates it from the rest of palm trees. It can reach heights of 12-14 meters. The leaves are patted with a limbo about 50 cm long, with little or not at all thorny leaf petioles and a little longer than the limbo. Flowers in clusters of a beautiful yellow and bluish-gray fruits the size of a pea.

Trachycarpus is widely used in gardening forming groups of for example 3 units of different heights. Excellent palm to form alignments.
