Washingtonia Robusta

In our plantations we currently have about 3,000 robust Washingtonias in root ball with a trunk height from 1 meter to 10 meters. We also have a large number of potted robust Washingtonias with trunk heights up to 7-8 meters. It is the fastest growing palm tree, the most slender and the most economical.

It is a very variable species since it probably hybridizes with the California palm (Washingtonia filifera) giving rise to specimens of intermediate characteristics.

The irrigation, always with quality water and without excesses, the subscribers, phytosanitary care and other cultivation work that we apply to these palms are exactly the same as we are giving to our Canary and date palms. The ultimate goal is to obtain a product of the highest quality and in perfect sanitary condition.

The robust Washingtonia tolerates transplantation very well especially if it is done in the spring and summer months and adapts to a wide variety of soils, from the poor, shallow and compact to deep, permeable soils and rich in organic matter.

They have fan-shaped leaves with long white threads in youth that disappear with age. The leaves are very large, up to two meters in diameter and bright green. Branched inflorescences are born from the base of the leaves. The fruits are spherical, numerous, black, 0.5 cm in diameter.

The multiplication of this species is very simple, through seeds, since its germination power is very potent and usually takes about two months to do so. Once enough height is acquired, you can either transplant to the garden or pass it to a larger pot.
