In our nursery we have specimens of Cyca revoluta in pot from 20-30 cm to 1-1.5 meters of trunk. They are one of the oldest plants on earth with more than 300 million years of existence. They have great symmetry and great ornamental beauty which makes them coveted copies for public parks and private gardens.
They have a crown of bright dark green leaves, similar to those of the palm tree. Petioles or leaf stems have small protective spikes. All new leaves emerge simultaneously and with a circular pattern. Until they harden a few weeks later, these leaves are very sensitive and it is not advisable to remove or disturb the specimen while performing this process.
The trunk is very slow, thick, hairy and measures about 20 cm in diameter and can reach 5-6 meters in height but requires around 50-100 years to reach those heights. The trunks can branch several times thus producing multiple leaf heads.
Cycas are dioecious plants. The male feet produce pollen in a huge conical structure that develops in the center of the crown of leaves while the female feet produce a mass of ovaries that after fertilization become orange-yellow seeds and the size of a large bean . Pollination can be done naturally by wind, insects or artificially.
It can be grown as an indoor plant although its most suitable location is outdoors, withstanding a temperature range from -10 ºC to 40 ºC. They adapt to both dry and wet soils but are very sensitive to lack of water when they emit new leaves. They propagate mainly by seeds although it can also be done by little grandparents.
We show below a photo gallery of the Cyca revoluta. The sales format is the pot. We have small specimens of 10-20 cm of trunk to other more grown specimens with 1-1.5 meters of trunk.
From the beginning we carefully take care of the planting process and continue to do so 27 years later. We do not accept anything that does not meet our high standards. What sets us apart from the competition.
UrbaPalms was born about 27 years ago in Elche (Alicante) with a first plantation of 20,000 Canary Palms and Date Palms on our farms.
We are specialists in the cultivation of these two species. We sell to individuals, companies and official organizations at very competitive prices, working both the national and international markets.
All palm trees are periodically treated with insecticides authorized against red palm weevil and paysandisia archon, the most important pests of the ilicitano palm grove.
We have authorization in force to issue phytosanitary passports for all palm trees that are expected to move from our facilities.
